Rendered beef fat from heritage-breed cattle grazed on St. Croix pastures. Tallow’s fatty acid profile — palmitic, stearic, oleic — mirrors the lipids in human skin, making it exceptionally compatible for barrier repair and deep moisturization. Rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K as naturally occurring constituents.

Cold-pressed jojoba — technically a liquid wax — slowly macerated in-house with four botanicals: calendula, German chamomile, centella asiatica, and rose. Jojoba’s molecular structure closely resembles skin’s natural sebum. The slow maceration draws the calming, antioxidant-rich properties of each plant into the oil base.

Unrefined beeswax creates the balm’s structure and provides a breathable occlusive layer on the skin — sealing in moisture without suffocating the skin the way petroleum-based waxes do. It also carries natural antimicrobial properties and a subtle honey warmth to the texture.

Marigold blossoms steeped slowly in jojoba oil. Calendula has been used in skin preparations for centuries — prized for its gentle, calming effect on sensitive, reactive, or dry skin. Rich in flavonoids and carotenoids.

One of the most researched botanicals for sensitive skin. Chamomile’s bisabolol and apigenin content gives it potent skin-soothing properties. Macerated at a low temperature to preserve its delicate actives.

An Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine staple, centella is backed by modern research for its role in supporting skin’s natural renewal processes. Its triterpene compounds are associated with improved resilience in mature skin.

Damask rose petals macerated for their hydrating polyphenols and subtle floral complexity. Rose has long been associated with mature and dehydrated skin care — and with the ritual pleasure of a face balm that smells unmistakably like a garden.

A fat-soluble antioxidant that protects the formula from oxidation and supports the skin’s own antioxidant defenses. Vitamin E works synergistically with tallow’s naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins.

Supercritical CO₂ extraction yields a highly concentrated, unadulterated rosehip extract — retaining carotenoids and other delicate phytonutrients lost in conventional cold-pressing. At 0.5%, it delivers meaningful activity in a stable anhydrous base.

Steam-distilled from Boswellia Carterii resin — the classical frankincense of the ancient world. Its boswellic compounds and incensol esters contribute a deeply grounding, woody-sacred aroma while supporting the formula’s overall skin-comfort profile.

Resinous myrrh has been used in skin preparations since ancient Egypt. Paired with frankincense — its traditional companion — it adds depth to the balm’s aroma profile while contributing complementary botanical actives.

One of the rarest botanicals in this formula. Blue tansy’s signature cobalt hue comes from chamazulene, formed during steam distillation. At a thoughtful 0.10%, it brings a trace of its renowned calming quality without overpowering the formula’s warm, resinous heart notes.

An antioxidant included to help protect the oils and tallow from oxidation and support formula freshness. Rosemary CO₂ extract (ROE) is the gold standard for extending the stability of anhydrous formulas — guarding against oxidative degradation without synthetic additives.
